Dartington to Totnes
Foot- and Cyclepath

Shared Habitat initiated the Dartington to Totnes Foot- and Cyclepath in 1989. Over the following years we negotiated with Dartington Trust, the major landowners, worked together with the national charity SUSTRANS, and involved the local Dartington village community in decision making. Eventually, the most important section of the path (from Dartington Shinners Bridge to Totnes) was built. This route has become a highly valued and much frequented route for cyclists, walkers and wheelchair users alike.
Over the following years the route has been extended by South Hams Council and local supporters to include pathways by the river Dart and lead into the centre of Totnes.
Shared Habitat’s original, ground-breaking proposal was to connect Totnes all the way with Buckfastleigh. Here is an image of the hand-drawn map that, accompanied by photographs and notes. Now new initatives are picking up where we left off, to build a path all the way.

This map was researched and photographed by Eila Goldhahn and Stuart J Young and then drawn by Juliet Robertson of NUTSHELL Natural Paints.

Pfaelzer Hof Artists Residencies in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Shared Habitat run artist residencies and mentored retreats. Pfaelzer Hof Artists Residencies was set up in a former hotel and is a member of ResArtis. Residencies are curated and often result in a solo exhibition in the project room / gallery. We have a relationship with the University Trier Campus Idar-Oberstein and artists are usually invited to present their work to the students and staff.
